Writhe in the Weaving... by Sir-Bombers Writhe in the Weaving... by Sir-Bombers
Hey everyone!

Well I present to you my first drawing of 2014... LOL..

Didn't mean for it to take this long, but now it's finally finished!

This is another commission for my super awesome friend :iconthefacelessgentleman:

Here we have two characters from the online multiplayer game Smite. The big spider babe is Arachne and the poor thing below is Goddess Athena. Those of your who are familiar with mythology should know the story these two share... but for those who don't, here it is below. It's pretty much the reasoning for this picture...

The story is very old and is told in many ways through many different sources. Here's how it was told in the "Smite" Wiki...

Once, a beautiful and talented weaver of cloth and fabric, a single prideful mistake made a monster of Arachne for all time.

With loom and thread, there were none more skilled than the mortal Arachne. Viewers traveled leagues just to see her art. So wondrous and majestic were her tapestries, it was said the spinner must have been instructed by the patron Goddess of Weavers herself, Athena. To this comparison, Arachne proudly scoffed, claiming not even the Gods rivaled her talent at weaving.

When Athena heard this, disguised as a crone, she visited Arachne and encouraged her to show proper respect to the Gods. Arachne dismissed the old woman and issued a challenge that no God, not even Athena, could weave better than she. Furious, Athena revealed herself and accepted the challenge.

They both set to the loom with fervor. Athena wove a glorious tapestry depicting her battle with Poseidon over the city of Athens. Her detail and imagery were exquisite. Yet Arachne's weavings depicted Zeus in his many infidelities with mortals. So flawless, so lifelike was her artistry, not even Athena could refute the skill, nor could she contain her anger at such a sleight. Violently, she tore Arachne's tapestry and pressed a finger to Arachne's forehead. Twisting in anguish, Arachne fell to the ground as additional legs grew from her body, screaming as she transformed into the first spider.

It was an act of anger and pity, a lesson and a curse, for spiders are the greatest of weavers, and Arachne, in particular, was to weave for all time, but none could doubt the consequences for Arachne's pride. Still, within her twisted heart, Arachne never forgave Athena, consumed by a dark hatred that can only be sated only by the destruction of the Gods.

As you could guess a story like this that finds it's way into the tickling kink community will have some tickling introduced to it in some way! So in order to get revenge, and possibly persuade Athena to change her back to a human, Arachne captures Athena, restrains her in web and tickle tortures the poor goddess... Seems like Arachne's weaving skills have beaten Athena yet again.... heh heh.

This pic took so long to do! I went from  long streak of artist block to overwhelmed with tons and tons of detail. This is perhaps my largest picture ever made combining two separate pictures together... the original of this is a whopping 3000 x 12,000! :faint: Luckily, thanks to my commissioners, I was able to recently buy a new laptop and extra memory to take on the extra file strain with ease!

I hope you all enjoy.

Loving the face-down position of the feet.

It's cute how even the spiders want in on the action! Meow :3 Those spindly legs probably feel similar to feather quills.

Turning your weaving enemy into a spider - clever.

Making her webbings powerful enough to trap you - slightly less clever. :XD:

Indeed, I am familiar with the myth, but I was not familiar with the game until now. Sounds interesting.

This is such a nice helpless situation Athena found herself in. Beautiful. I really love how the perspective is slightly tilted so we get a good close up of the feet. ;)

Awesome job, dude!

That's exactly what I was thinking. The fact that you gave powers to a person who has a real hatred for you? Athena didn't seem like one to think things through... XD

It does sound like an interesting game... my I'm more into the less hardcore, straight forward, console games...

Totally wanted to give a sense that Athena was well and truly trapped. Like her feet were trapped in a totally separate room while she dangled helplessly in the dark... You can also suspect that her feet are flexed forward so that they're tightly taut for those tickling claws... :mwahaha:
That's dude!

Nope, she was clearly blinded by her anger when she did that. XD

Everyone has their tastes.

Oh, that is just deliciously sadistic. :XD:

Definitely... Arachne knows how to use her skills for more than just telling tapestry stories... :D
